How to reveal a baby on the way

Before I start I must say, NO. I am not expecting!  my son is only 5 months old, and I am not ready for another baby anytime soon.

Last year, when I was expecting my first baby, I wanted to reveal the pregnancy in a special way to our families.  I researched many ideas.  I thought it would be neat to share how my husband and I revealed our first pregnancy and share some other ideas that we considered.

1) Surprise your family with balloons!
After reading many ideas on how my husband and I would reveal our first pregnancy to our families, we decided to walk into a family meal with pink and blue balloons! We surprised his family over Easter last year, and my family the week after.  I think that balloons are so fun! I think it enhanced the excitement!

Here is a photo of my husband and my oldest  nephew about to surprise his family.

2) Give a children's book to the new grandparents, uncles and aunts.
Since my son is the first grandchild on my side of the family, I wanted to give my parents and my brothers a special book when we revealed the news! I purchased these books, and signed them from the baby.  We gave them as little gifts as we surprised my family with the balloons.

3) Use a jar of Prego spaghetti sauce!
"Prego" spaghetti sauce. get it? You can use a jar of " Prego" spaghetti sauce to reveal your pregnancy in a variety of ways.  You can decorate the Prego jar and give it to your family.  You can also post a picture of Prego spaghetti sauce on your Facebook page when you are ready to make the news " Facebook official"  I thought about useing this method to reveal my pregnancy to my family. Perhaps next time.

4) Send an Ultrasound postcard!
I didn't use this idea either.  My husband and I have good friends who had a baby girl just a few months before my son was born.  They have a very large extended family whom they are really close with.  When they reached the end of their first trimester, it was close to Valentines day. They sent an  ultrasound postcard to all their aunts and uncles! I thought it was a really cute idea!

I am sure there are plenty of other great ideas for revealing a pregnancy.  How did you reveal yours?

( Be sure to check out my other baby projects! Here!)

Baby food Valentines

2011 was a BIG year of babies among people I know! Including me!

I had my little boy on October 30 ,2011.

But before that, four of my good friends and three of my cousins all had baby girls!!!

I thought it would be super cute if my son, being the only boy in the group, sent Valentines to all his little girlfriends and girl cousin playmates!

I might be creating a monster with this.....or maybe he will grow up and get mad at me for doing this to him. Who knows.

I came up with baby food Valentines for the girls!

For Katelyn. Peas! because she is a " Sweet Pea!"

Bananas for Brenna!

Pears for Emma.

For Hadley. Apples.

These next three are for 'cousin' baby girls.  so I needed to make the phrases. 'cousin' appropriate.
( I grew up in the Chicago area....our family is not like THAT)

Alayna and Madison are getting sweet potatos.

And a Blueberry treat for Ariana!

Hope all the girls enjoy their Valentines.  As a girl myself, I know how important Valentines day is to the girls!

If you send a birth annoucement to the White House...

If you send a birth announcement to the White house and Disneyland....You might just get something back!

I saw a blog called North Carolina Charm and saw where she sent a wedding invitation to the president and got a congratulations letter back.

How neat is that? Only problem was. I have been married 5 years. soo..

I tried sending my newborn sons birth announcement to see if I would get something back

I wrote a little note on the back of his announcement.

and sent it to the following address.

About 6 weeks later. We got this in the mail!

What a GREAT addition to his baby book!

Upon further research after I originally posted this on my blog. I came to find out that you can get mail from the White House for a variety of occasions. Please view this link to get formal instructions on how to get greetings from the White House.

I was disappointed to see that receiving a Christmas card was not something the White House does.  Perhaps I will give it a try for Christmas 2012.

Also,
I received messages from my readers that you can send Birth announcements to Disney World and the Pope.  I sent the Pope my son's birth announcement back in December and still have not gotten anything that ( I am updating this April 2012)

I did send a Birth announcement to Disneyland, and received this back. I sent mine to the Disney in California. but you can send your Disney annoucement to either of the following addresses.

Mickey and Minnie Mouse
Walt Disney World
1675 N Buena Vista Dr
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830
or
Mickey and Minnie Mouse

The Walt Disney Company

500 South Buena Vista Street

Burbank, California 91521

Good Luck!

Baby shower favor idea

Back in August my mom's three younger sisters threw me the most amazing baby shower and it meant the world to me!! I really wanted to make some cute favors for the shower, just so I could let everyone know how much I appreciated everything.

My first indication would be to make something homemade. But the venue we had the shower at had a rule that anything you brought in could not be homemade.  I brainstormed for a long time to come up with something cute!

You can imagine the check out kids reaction at the grocery store, when a pregnant lady came in and purchased 30 Full sized Baby Ruth's!!! ( It was funny)

This was REALLY simple to make.  I just cut out pieces of card stock and used puffy paint to draw my last name and taped them onto the candy bars.

I think they went over really well.  We almost used " Sugar Babies" instead of  Baby Ruths. However, I don't really like Sugar Babies and my mom and I decided that Sugar babies would be cute for a shower or a birthday party for twins.

Hope you like!

Modge Podge Baby Photo Cube

One of my closest friends had a precious baby girl earlier this year and asked me to be the God mother.  I wanted to make her something extra special on the day of her baptism.  Since, I have been spending some time getting acquainted with " Modge Podge" I decided to make her a photo cube!

I purchased some matching scrapbook paper to decorate the photo box.

Well Katelyn's parents liked it! I think it turned out nice. and it was SOOO very easy!  I used pictures that I just printed off, black and white.
