Felt Training Purse

Before I start this post I feel like I have to state the following.  I am not selling these.  This project is not meant to be counterfeit.  I am not REALLY trying to convince people that this is a particular purse brand.

This is a child's purse made from 3 pieces of felt.  I made this for my 18 month old Goddaughter.  This is a Training purse!  It's supposed to help her get ready to own the real thing someday!!!

I actually thought about gluing " K's" onto this purse, because my goddaughter's name is Katelyn.  I asked my Goddaughter's mother what she would prefer on this purse.  She thought it would be cute for me to glue " C's" on this purse so that Katelyn would have a purse " like mommy"

I did not sew this purse.  I used a hot glue gun for the entire thing.

Supplies
1 piece of tan felt
2 pieces of brown felt
some gold ribbon
2 buttons
hot glue gun/ hot glue sticks.

Directions on how make this training purse:

1)  I folded a piece of beige felt in half and hot glued it to form a purse.  I hot glued a flap. and made button holes with scissors so it would fasten.

2) I cut out " C's"  by free handing a bubble letter, then using that first C to trace the rest of them.  These are also hot glued onto the purse.

3) I hot glued some gold ribbon to the purse for some trim.

4) glued some buttons on the purse and cut also cut button holes.  This was an easy way to make this purse fasten.

5) I hot glued on a strap with some leftover felt.

6) Please remember pull off all the hot glue strings!!  when using as much hot glue as I did, there was a great deal of hot glue gun strings!!.  Especially since I was giving this to an 18 month old, I did not want any of those to end up in her mouth!

Earlier in the week my son and I went to visit Katelyn and her mom in Illinois.  I think Katelyn liked it, her mom tells me she is really into carrying purses around.

Felt Rose Ball

My husband: " Your a craft blogger.  Why are our walls so bare?".

Me: " I have not really ever made wall decorations".

mmmmmmmm  ok.

So I decided to make a rose ball to give some color to our mantel.

" So...What is a rose ball?" You ask?

It is a cute little ball made up of lots of little felt roses.

How to Make a Felt Rose Ball

Supplies needed
* 4 pieces of felt
* 1 styrofoam craft ball
* hot glue gun
* scissors

To make a rose.  Go to this felt rose tutorial on craft gossip.   ( There are so many felt rose tutorials out there, I don't want to reinvent the circle)

Make enough felt roses to completely cover the ball.  Hot glue them onto the ball as you go.

I glued twine to my rose ball and hung it from a mirror on my mantel.  I felt like it gave my display some color.

This is my mantel.  Right now its a work in progress.  I just Modge Podged the initial to my last name.  Those black canvas's will also get some photos " Modge Podged" on them soon.  I am totally open to suggestions for this display if you have any.

I really like my Felt Rose Ball.  I have been married for 6 years.  If I knew about felt roses back in 2006, I might have used them for decorations.

Homemade Dominoes

Since becoming parents a few months ago, my husband and I have gotten into the habit of playing games with each other over a glass of wine and an appetizer after the little guy has gone to sleep for the night.

I thought it would be fun to play Dominoes, a game we frequently play at my husband's parents house.

We didn't have any Dominoes in our home, so I decided to make some! Making a set of Dominoes was inexpensive and easy.

Here is how you make your own set of felt Dominoes

1) I did some research online, to see how many pieces were in a set and how many of each kind of Domino there was. I found my answers at wikipedia.com.

2) I cut a piece of felt into 28 ( mostly) equal pieces.

3) I used white 3d Puffy Paint to paint the dots onto the Domino pieces.

4) I waited an hour for my Dominoes to dry.

My felt Dominoes were a hit with my husband, there are plenty of Domino games that revolve around just 2 people.  Of course we plan on inviting people over to play sometime too!

Felt Road patrol kit

My nephew Kyle just turned 2.  After making homemade gifts for his brothers and sisters I, of course had to make something fun and creative for him as well!

Some of my other gifts I have made some of the other children in Kyle's family include:

Adam's homemade detective kit
Audrey's Play Pizzeria
Audrey's Madeline Costume
Adam's Red box gift set

I made Kyle " Officer Kyle's patrol kit"

Although this gift is a little advanced for a 2 year old, I know Kyle will get help on how to use it from his three older brothers and older sister.

I purchased 1 yard of felt and cut them into pieces of road. I made them all the same size by using my first cut piece of road as a guide for all my other pieces.

I made the road lines with yellow 3d Puff paint.

I wanted this gift to be interactive.  I found images of road signs online. Printed them out and glued them on the back of craft foam to make them sturdy.

I packed them all in a box and also included a Hot Wheels police car.

Included instructions.

I packed them all up in a plastic container.

Felt Alphabet Soup

I just finished making a birthday present for one of my favorite little people who turned One last month.  I thought of the idea of making " Alphabet Soup", after this little girl's mom told me about how her daughter likes to play with items in the kitchen and play with the laundry.  It took me a little longer than I thought to make this gift, but I hope she likes it.

I hand sewed all these letters with felt and purchased a pail from the craft store to use as the " Soup Pot",

To make the letters, I free handed bubble letters right onto the felt and cut them out.  I made two for each letter and sewed them together.   I stuffed them with " pillow stuffing".

All the letters go into the Soup pot.  The games that a child can play with these letters are endless!  When I give this gift I will include a wooden spoon!

And thats how you make " Alphabet Soup!"

Felt Christmas Cookies!

After I made my niece's Felt food Pizza restaurant kit.  I have a  new  love of sewing felt food!  Since I am patiently anxiously waiting for my baby to arrive, I have found sewing a nice relaxing activity for when I feel like I need to sit down for a little bit.

I decided to sew a Children's Christmas Cookie bakery! ( glass of milk not included)

Play pizza restaurant in a box

WOW. It has been a LONG time since I have posted! My husband and I moved over labor day, and we have been spending time getting our new house around ( and getting ready for the baby, who will make his/her appearance sometime around Halloween)

Well my darling niece Audrey is turning 4 this weekend, and since I made a Homemade detective kit  present for her brother for his birthday, I wanted to make a special birthday present for her as well.

Before this project, my sewing history was sewing a few buttons.  I have always had a phobia of sewing.  I think its because sewing machines scare me a little bit.  ( I did not use a sewing machine for this)

I looked online at felt pizza pictures. I did not follow a pattern for this.  After I got the hang of sewing these, It became easier and self explanatory.  ( I'm not a left brainer, a pattern wouldn't help me much anyway)

The toppings that I made for the Audrey's pizza are Green peppers, basil, mushrooms, onions, black olives and pepperoni.

The peppers by far took the longest!

I also found these " restaurant checks" at Wal Mart.  I thought these would be fun to help Audrey play restaurant.

I might of gotten a little carried away... ( my crafts often do get carried away) .  I had extra felt left over. I made breadsticks and cookies for Audrey's restrauant as well.  I also just purchased 1/2 yard of fabric for Audrey to use as a table cloth in her restaurant.

I also made up menus. Here is a picture of the printed Menu.

I placed all the toppings into little bags, and put them into the box that I decorated.  I am going to send this in the mail.

Hopefully she will like it!! I am no longer afraid of sewing!! My mom thinks I need to try to use a " sewing machine" next!
